Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow!

The field can be used for many wargaming genres as a nice addition to the scenery. The base was made of 3mm plasticard, the fence is balsa wood. The lettuce is 3D printed. The whole base is covered with fine sand and airbrushed afterwards.

Blood Bowl: Chaos Doom Lords

Next batch of Blod Bowl players finished:
The Chaos Doom Lords.

Bolt Action: A Sherman for the Red Army

Because my US forces have enough heavy metal, this Sherman M4 will be added to my growing Soviet forces as lend-lease tank. The Soviet Army book offers a wide selection of foreign vehicles to add as lend-lease, the Sherman can be used as a medium tank like a T-34.
The tank is a plastic kit from Italeri in scale 1/56. The female tanker is from the Soviet range of Bad Squiddo. The lettering on the sides means "Victory". I used "Russian Green" from the Vallejo Model Air range mainly und build up lighter shades of it by throwing a little bit "White" in the mix. Weathering is done with chipping fluid, Vallejo pigments and some muddy grass paste from AK.

Bolt Action: Soviet T-34

Since there will probably be very little time left for this hobby in the next two weeks, I am happy that the last, more extensive handicrafts in 2018 have just been finished before Christmas.
More or less the starting point for one of the bigger wargaming projects next year, a Soviet T-34 with a female crew. The Soviets were one of the few nations involved in WW2 that had women in combat (apart from medical services). In 2019 I will gradually expand the Soviets, also with other women units, such as the famous female snipers of the Russian armed forces.
The tank ist from Warlordgames, scale 1/56. The female crew and the female tank riders are from the Sovjet range from Bad Squiddo. Even though Soviet tanks with camouflage colors were rather rare, I wanted to use a light, not to be dominated scheme here. I mainly used three shades: Russian Green, Dark Green and Cam.Light Green (Model Air Vallejo). The Cyrillic lettering on the side of the tower means "For the homeland!".

SAGA: Peter of Amiens

Peter the Hermit, also called Peter of Amiens. He was part of the first crusade and as a temporarily leader at least not very successful. Some would say that there were two donkeys on the journey. He can be used as the leader of a crusader warband or as a simple priest. Anyway a nice reinforcement for my Teutonic Knights.

SAGA: Two Armies

After I have worked the past weeks on a 4 points Crusader faction for SAGA Crescent&Cross and already earlier this year could finish a Muslim faction with 6 points, here now both armies ready to play. At some point I will also bring the Teutonic Order to 6 points, but for now I need some variety with other projects.

SAGA Crescent & Cross: Teutonic Knights Infantrymen

The last big painting project for 2018 is ready to play. My SAGA Crusader faction of the Teutonic Knights has been brought to four points with the completion of eight infantrymen. I still have material to paint in order to be able to recruit up to six points, but after weeks of work on the knights I can no longer bear the colour white and need some variety.

Blood Bowl: Reikland Reavers

Another Blood Bowl commission from Sweden that Michi painted in December. The team was painted in colours of the customer's choice.
There are two more teams to be painted now. So no more time to waste with typing and better get back to painting...

SAGA: Crossbows for the Teutonic Order

Another point for my SAGA Crusader faction, the Teutonic Order. A crossbow unit of eight men, determined and sworn to the Order. Because the crossbow is a dishonorable weapon, they are not allowed to wear the sign of the Lord. I hope, however, that the dice will still roll in their favour.

AvP: Last Mission before Xmas

It's pre-Christmas, so there's not much time left for us to play. Michi and Doc met for a last game date in 2018 for a cooperative game of "AvP".

Two Colonial Marines units had to make it to their APC and weld at least three of four breaches. An almost endless stream of aliens stood between the Marines and their way home. But the soldiers of both units were unimpressed by the approaching slimy hordes and relied unflinchingly on their concentrated firepower. Automatic gun emplacements, grenades, impulse rifles, flamethrowers and shotguns blew their way through claws and teeth. And in the end, only one single Marine had to give up his life, because in his immediate vicinity a dying alien sprayed his acid blood in all directions.

So the year is slowly coming to an end and came to a truly crowning end. The game, played at medium difficulty, was peppered with cineastic scenes and we once again had a hell of a time.
